1. Import the Photoshop file.
2. From the layer Options select Editable Layer Styles. Hit ok ...
3. ... Select single Composition to create a new composition from selection and set duration field for 2 second.
4. Select your Photoshop layers and drag it into the timeline . Lock your Background layer, select the character layer and from the menu bar choose the puppet Pin Tool.
5. ... and place some pins on your character's body, preferably body joints.
6. Expand the mesh1 > Deform properties ...
7. ... select the pins, press Enter and rename them , so you can find them easier on the character's body.
8. Display the distortion mesh and change the triangles value. the higher the number, the smoother the animation.
9. From the menu bar choose the Selection Tool , then click on the yellow point and try to move it .
10. As you may see , by draging some points other points in their proximity follow them as well.
11. To solve this problem, increase the triangles value, select the Puppet pin Tool and put more pins inside the triangles next to the part which is going to be animated. ... then
12. ... select the Puppet Starch Tool (display the distortion Mesh ) and click on the yellow points (the area which should stay firm).The higher the amount , the more rigid the area will be.
13. We can also determine which part of the character or shape should stay in front. Here the right leg is front.
14. ... to do so, from the menu bar select Puppet Overlap Tool ...
15. ... and click on the triangles( the area which should stay in front).
16. As you may see, now the left leg is in the front.
17. To animate the pins, select the pin/pins. Expand mesh1 > Deform properties ... also expand each Puppet pin properties. ( After Effects has already created automatically keyframe for each pin you placed).
18. Move the Time-indictor to desired frame(here 27) and change the position of the pin/pins. Test your animation.
