By using Symbol Sprayer you will be able to apply a large number of identical objects to your artwork. for the sake of this Tutorial we are going to spray ornaments to our Christmas tree. In this tutorial we are not creating new symbols, but using the symbols which are already existed in the Ai Library.

1. From the menu bar choose Window > Symbols

2. Open the Symbol library and select “Nature”.

3. From the Symbol Panel select “Trees1″ and drag it into the stage. Choose the Selection Tool and scale it up.

4. Add other decorative Symbols to Symbol panel by selecting and dragging into it.

5. Simply drag the Star and place it on the top of tree.

6. Double click on the Sprayer Tool and set the brush size, intensity and symbol set density. Now to spray a large number of an object like the ornaments select the Symbol Sprayer Tool and symbol from the Symbol panel, and then click and drag where you want the new symbol to appear. To delete the symbol instances, hold down the Alt-key as you click over the the instances.


7. To choose another option from the Symbolism Tools, as you move your cursor over the instances, hold down the Alt-key and right click will display the other options. Select the Symbol Sizer tool. Click and drag will increase the size of the symbol and holding down the Alt-key as you click and drag will decrease the size of it. If you want to preserve the density of the symbols then hold down the shift-key.


8. To move the instances, select Symbol Shifter tool and select also the symbol you want to move from the symbol panel, and then drag the the symbol in the direction you want. Shift-click will bring the instances forward and to send it backward hold down Alt-key and shift click the symbol.

9. You can also add a graphic style to a symbol instances. In doing so:
from the menu bar choose Window > Graphic Style

10. Open the Graphic style library and select the style you want and place it into the Graphic Styles Panel.

11. Select the Symbol Styler tool and also select a style in the Graphic Styles panel. Click and drag where you want the style to appear. By holding down the Alt-key , you will decrease the style amount.
